The Abstract SMP is a Minecraft server based in the United Kingdom, running on version 1.20.1. Its history dates back to June 2023 when TheTerrorAxolotl established the TA-SMP, the predecessor of the Abstract SMP. Initially, TheTerrorAxolotl managed the server alone, but soon invited another player named Chair to assist with the administration. The server experienced growth, but soon faced challenges due to inadequate planning, which led to an influx of hackers and cheaters. Although some temporary fixes were implemented, they proved insufficient to sustain the server's integrity. The situation escalated when a significant rule violation occurred, resulting in a banned player being unbanned by a staff member who also attempted to conceal illegal items on the server. Fortunately, a plugin called Discord SRV uncovered their plans, allowing the owners to take swift action against the misconduct.
As the year progressed, the TA-SMP sought to host a Christmas event in December 2023, but the turnout was disappointing. In response to this decline, TheTerrorAxolotl decided to create a new server, applying the knowledge gained from the tumultuous experience with the TA-SMP. This decision led to the establishment of the Abstract SMP, which aims to provide a more stable and enjoyable experience for players. It is essential to note that the Abstract SMP is not affiliated with Mojang, ensuring its independence in the Minecraft community.
