PIS Minecraft, a server that originated in 2010, was created out of a keen interest in the game after the author stumbled upon a news article and a series of journals by a game journalist detailing their experiences in Minecraft. Intrigued by the game's unique concept and its affordable price of just ten dollars, the author quickly purchased it and set up a server named PIS Minecraft, which stands for Programmers in Space, a playful reference rooted in a long-standing inside joke with a friend from the 1990s. The initial experience was quite memorable, with the first players collaborating to construct a modest wooden house near the game's coordinates of 0,0,0, which has since been replaced by a dirt house in that area.
In 2020, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of PIS Minecraft, the author decided to revitalize the old world files and launched a public server that allowed former players to revisit the past as spectators. This initiative required some effort to reconnect with the original players, but it was worth it as they gathered on Discord and enjoyed a nostalgic experience. Now, with over 15 years since the inception of the server, the author feels inspired to release an updated version of PIS Minecraft that is fully playable, allowing both new and returning players to engage with the server in an active capacity.
